Throughout the past year, pupils, parent, carers and staff from St Edmund’s School have been busy fundraising for Change of Scene and their efforts have been amazing!
A cheque for the magnificent amount of £1368.63 was recently delivered to us by Bella Kidd, the younger sister of one of our attendees, Oliver.
Bella presented us with the cheque from the school and we had a small ceremony with our support work staff, VCO, Sue Weaver and two of our goats, Meringue and Pebble. Meringue, in particular, was very interested in the cheque, but fortunately, we managed to keep her from eating it!
A huge thank you to everyone involved in the fantastic fundraising effort.
With the 2019 Mongol Rally finish line closing on 14th September, we are delighted to report that the Exhausted Idiot managed to complete the journey almost entirely in one piece.
Travelling from England, via Prague, to the Siberian town of
Ulan-Ude , the trip took them, in their own words ‘42 days, 15,000km, 20
countries, 12 breakdowns, 1 crash and a whole lot of zip ties and duct tape’
Along with their trusty steed Forrest, Will, Nick and
Charles managed to raise a truly inspiring £2,920.00, just 3% shy of their
£3000 target. This money will be shared between several charities, including Change
Huge congratulations to the three adventurers and well done
for getting there.
In mid-September 2019, Change of Scene were delighted to welcome a group of 34 volunteers from Farnborough based company, Ask Helios.
Armed with a full range of gardening tools, the volunteers spent all day hard at work on the site, carrying out an enormous number of tasks – everything from making sure the pond is weed-free to covering the vegetable patch in bird-proof netting. The volunteers even managed to collect some of our blackberries and build a lovely new cage for our ferret, Foggy.
weather stayed fine for the whole day and, after a long, tiring day, the volunteers
had the chance to meet some of our animals, including our nine alpaca, our sulcata
tortoises and our corn snake, Tango.
We would like to thank all the volunteers who did so much hard work on our site. Everything looks amazing!
