Back in June 2018, CoS was fortunate to be a recipient of the HSYA with the money going towards an ‘early intervention fund’ for young people who might not otherwise have a chance to attend Change of Scene.
On 28th March 2019, Change of Scene were invited to an event hosted by the High Sheriff Youth Award designed, in the words of Brigadier Paul Evans, event coordinator, “to celebrate and showcase the quite excellent work of many youth groups across Surrey.”
Along with a number of other worthy charities, guests included the Lord Lieutenant, the Chairman of Surrey County Council, the Chief Constable, the Mayors and Chairman of the Boroughs and Districts within Surrey and, of course, the High Sheriff of Surrey himself, Jim Glover.
Change of Scene have been fortunate to have been visited by two successive High Sheriffs, both of whom have recognised the hard work done by the Charity for disadvantaged young people.
The event was attended by Kim Field, our Deputy CYP support worker, Sue Weaver, voluntary chief office, Joanna Elliott, Trustee and an attendee, who was happy to talk about his time working at Change of Scene. We were delighted by his enthusiasm and impeccable behaviour.
We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who helped organise this excellent event and to all those people who came to find out more about Change of Scene.
