Children’s charity victim of break-in

5th September 2026

Change of Scene has suffered a break-in just days before opening its new facility.

Over the summer months, we’ve built a new site in Frensham including a new sensory room, kitchen and craft room. New shelters, housing and feeding areas for the animals have also been built.

However, on Wednesday 2 September, charity CEO Pam Robinson arrived to find windows smashed and piping and cables stolen.

“We’re devastated,” Pam said. “We’ve spent more than a year fundraising and planning the move to the new location and within days of moving into the facility and then welcoming our children to our new home, this happens.”

The cost of repairing the damage and installing additional security measures is expected to exceed £2,000.

Surrey Police is investigating and asks that anyone with information that may help please get in touch, quoting CAD 0161 02 SEP 26.

Last year, Change of Scene faced closure after it had to leave its home in Farnham and launched a campaign to find a new location. The new site in Frensham was secured through Wishanger Wellness, a charity focused on the mental health and wellbeing of the local community. The team has raised £630,000 to fund the new facility and move but are looking for donations to help equip the space for example, furniture and kitchenware.
